FAQ

If you do not find your answer below, please feel free to contact our office here.

  • Therapy / psychotherapy appointments:

    • This means working with a therapist, utilizing established principles derived from clinical and counseling psychology, to process traumas, explore relationship issues, increase insight and self-understanding, as well as working to modify behaviors (habits, routines, actions), cognitions (thoughts, beliefs, concepts), and affect (feeling, emotion, mood), in ways that are desirable to the client.

    • Our therapists do not prescribe medications.

    Psychiatric appointments:

    • This means working with our psychiatrist to explore medication and to optimize the type, dose, and frequency of medication used to improve mental health symptoms.

    • Our psychiatrist will also help you to identify and optimize other biological variables that may be impactful for your mental health, such as sleep and nutrition.

    • Our psychiatrists do not provide therapy. They focus on the biological rather than the psychological influences on mental health.

  • If you do not see their name appear or any availability on their calendar, that indicates they do not currently have any openings and their practice is full. Please check back again and things do open up from time to time.

  • Curretly we do not, but we hope to have our intern run low-fee program up and running again here in a year or so.

In the meantime, Seattle University has a lower cost provider directory that could be a helpful resource for you.

  • Yes, but there are some important rules and regulations that must be followed:

For those seeking therapy (one-on-one / couples counseling / group therapy):

    1. You must be physically located in Washington state to receive therapy services, including via telehealth.

    2. Note that while it is okay to message your practitioner while outside of Washington, those messages do not act as placeholders for follow-up visits.

    For those seeking medication management:

    1. As above, you must be physically located in Washington state to receive services, including via telehealth.

    2. For US residents, prescriptions are sent to pharmacies in Washington state, and only sent to pharmacies in other US states on a case by case basis (i.e. if someone is visiting a different state).

For those living outside of the country, prescriptions are usually filled by the person’s local prescriber (like a general practitioner) willing to prescribe off of a note written by our doctor.

    3. It is helpful to note that the monthly fee applies while you are under the doctor's care, and it is not dependent upon if you have a session with the doctor that month.  More about our billing policies can be found here.

    4. Also, while it is okay to message your practitioner while outside of Washington, those messages do not act as placeholders for follow-up visits.

    For those seeking testing:

    1. Please note that there is a good chance you may need one or more in-person sessions at our office.

    2. If the testing can be done via telehealth, you must be physically located in Washington state to receive testing services.

For non-clinical services such as classes or workshops:

    1. It is not usually the case that you would need to be physically located in Washington state, if the class / workshop is offered online.
